[Bienvenue au labo] – Digital tools in family and social relationships
With an increasingly important role in most of our living environments, digital tools are transforming the way we live and interact. This societal shift, which exists at both the individual and group levels, offers opportunities but also challenges, and therefore requires in-depth reflection on how to orient and support the changes taking place.
The aim of this project is to present research on the place of digital tools in the way we behave socially and emotionally. The focus is on the consequences – whether positive or negative – of their use for the socio-emotional development of children and adolescents: various parameters are analysed, such as the influence of parents, both in terms of controlling usage and through their own practices, the relationship between parents who have become less attentive and their children (the term used is ‘technoference’), the ability to regulate emotions and develop language, the search for social support, etc.
This leads us to (re)think our relationship with digital technology in order to use it in a mindful and reasoned manner.
