The Museums and Living Archaeology study day off ers a platform for critical refl ection on the active role of museums in the production, transmission, and ethical framing of archaeological knowledge. It brings together students, researchers, and professionals from major European institutions involved in long-term excavation projects, in Europe and abroad.­

The program foregrounds the museum not merely as a space of preservation and display, but as a dynamic actor in archaeological field work — shaping research agendas, engaging with local communities, and navigating complex heritage contexts. Discussions will highlight ongoing collaborations with institutions such as the British Museum, the Musée du Louvre, the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden, and the Archaeological Museum of Alicante (MARQ), examining how museums contribute to shaping the scientific, cultural, and political stakes of archaeology, particularly in regions where heritage is endangered.

By fostering dialogue across disciplines and professions, this study day aims to deepen our understanding of museum-led archaeological practices and their public and academic impact.
